The Old Boys will appreciate this one. Rugby is for players of all size big and small, thin and wide. It's also for all ages, young and old. As you get older, you may start thinking your body won't hold up for rugby anymore. That those conditioning sessions are just too much for you. That after 40, you have to hang up the cleats. Well, Orene Ai’i of the Major League Rugby LA Giltinis just showed that's just not the case!
On March 5th, 2021, The LA Giltinis' flyhalf went down against the Austin Gilgronis. Their 42-year-old Assistant Backs and Skills Coach, Orene Ai’i, decided to hop in and show he's still got it. He entered the MLR record book as the oldest player to play in a league match. He even scored 9 points!
If Orene, at 42, can still play at the highest level in the USA, it goes to show that even if you aren't as young as you used to be, doesn't mean you have to give it up!
There are multiple clubs in Minnesota that have an old boys side, get back out there and check them out!
